He claims this a classic in his family. This actually tasted pretty good imo but he made a post about eating french toast with ketchup on the stupid questions subreddit last week and got absolutely annihilated so apparently others might not agree lol.

I mean I don’t see why it can’t be savory, it’s just eggy bread. If you leave out the sweet parts of the recipe I don’t think it’s that bad conceptually
Does his french toast often look like that?
Because I mean.
Ketchup kind of makes sense when the toast looks more like scrambled eggs.
Is he a billionaire?
Break up.
Vert der ferk
I see ketchup as the worse version of actually good sauces. It presses the same button sometimes, but never truely satisfies.
So yeah, ill go with him being a menace to society.
That’s how I’ve always eaten it growing up, as per my dad.. you just put garlic powder/salt/pepper instead of cinnamon & brown sugar. 🤷🏼♀️
Breaking news: Again redditor lives in bubble and discovers that people like other things.
In my country almost nobody eats french toasts (or just bread in egg) with sweet stuff, everyone eats it savory
You’re telling me this isn’t chicken?
I actually PREFER savory french toast, because all I can taste is the egg and sweet french toast to me tastes like a sweet omelette (it’s gross to me) Like, do you want your eggs with chocolate and syrup? Eww 🤮🤢
Wait a fucking second
Don’t put anything on my french toast… not even syrup. Give me syrup to put on them if I want too. Which I do, but a certain amount.
I think hes trying too murder you
It’s the thought that counts. Cut him some slack and help him grow.
r/foodcrimes ketchup is nasty
honestly the maple syrup and sugar is more confusing to me, i’d literally never heard that before now
This looks awful. How family must be from the backwoods.
Meh, would smash
That’s passive aggressive bs. Who would do that?
i dont care if people put ketchup on their eggs or french toast or whatever but i would be pretty annoyed if they put it on mine.
Curious – did he specify in stupid questions that there wasn’t sugar and cinnamon in his french toast? Because I’ve never had french toast that wasn’t already sweet, and that sounds vile to have with ketchup, but french toast with salt and maybe some garlic in the egg… I don’t think ketchup is totally weird IF it’s savory, but lots of people are going to hear french toast and think pre-sweetened.
No different than having toast dipped into eggs that has ketchup on top of it. I have jam on my French toast 😹
Straight to jail
Isn’t this just eggy bread?

There’s no reason that shouldn’t be a thing. It just mostly isn’t. Nothing wrong with it. (Look up matzo brie — it’s matzo and eggs. Could be sweet or savory, entirely depending on your personal taste.)
this is how my grandpa eats it!
Is the bread coated with eggs, seasoning and green onions?
Never heard of anyone doing savory french toast that’s a new one for me but sounds like it would be good.
Why did he put the ketchup on like THAT though. Does he not know zigzag sauces taste better?
Instead of WHAT?!
This is how my parents eat french toast 😭 except they also use hot sauce.
In my country we call it literally “bread in egg” and it’s a popular savory breakfast food
Przenice. Is what we call this in the Balkans
